The
Legacy Lives On!
By Greg W. Gherardi
An Account of The July
2005 Reunion
We
arrived upon the shores of a faraway
land at about 4AM on a Friday
morning. Our spirits were high,
though the long journey had rendered
us gaunt and haggard; our muscle
tissue ravaged from inactivity. The
fog was impenetrable yet we managed
through it by simply guessing where
the road was and speeding onward.
Kamp
Klamath was a beautiful facility,
equipped with free Wi-Fi, a small
store, a grassy field and friendly
staff. As the day turned into early
evening familiar faces started
popping out of the
brush. Although 1500 PJ Murphy was
quietly subsiding into the sea, it
was as if DNC had never truly shut
down. Perhaps it existed within us
the whole time.
On
Saturday we rode a 750 hp, twin
460cu. in., 2 gal/mi Klamath Jet
Boat named "Eagle". It turned out to
be 25 very well-spent dollars. We
witnessed nature in its rawest
state, a massive bear (cub) foraged
along the shore and took interest in
us, nearly stepping onto the bow.
Then,
after 2 days of fun and excitement,
we said our goodbyes atop the vista,
shrouded within an ethereal fog. We
drove off, once again embarking upon
many separate paths, our futures'
having been affected or even made
possible by this part of our
past. Until next year, when it all
comes back to life once again...
